This is a stupid way of doing the marzipan. Much better to roll it out into a circle slightly smaller than the cake tin then spoon half the mixture into cake tin, then place marzipan circle on top, then add rest of mixture and bake

You can used 500g mixed fruit instead of the first two ingredients
